Lao Tzu
“Those who look down upon this world
will surely take hold and try to change things
But this is a plan
I’ve always seen fail
The world is Tao’s own vessel
It is perfection manifest
It cannot be changed
It cannot be improved
For those who go on tampering, it’s ruined
For those who try to grasp, it’s gone
Allow your life to unfold naturally
Know that it too is a vessel of perfection
Just as you breathe in and breathe out
Sometimes you’re ahead and other times behind
Sometimes you’re strong and other times weak
Sometimes you’re with people and other times alone

To the Sage
all of life is a movement toward perfection
So what need has he
for the excessive, the extravagant, or the extreme?”
Tao Te Ching, Verse 29, Translated by Jonathan Star

Mahalo.
Those thoughts are the perfect addition to my day.
Am glad you enjoyed. Lao Tzu is one of the greats…and prolific. A great combination.
Fran
This is a beautiful reminder to stop resisting all that is. Save your energy and go with the flow. Life is much easier and happier that way. Thank you Fran!
Paige,
Isn’t that the truth? Surrendering is what it’s all about. Fran
Such a brilliant thought for the day.
Thank you for this gift
With pleasure Aileen. But all the credit goes to Lao Tzu! Fran
Having tried medication for anxiety, and reading Lao Tzu, I find the latter to be far more effective. Because it strikes to the root–the insatiable desire to control outcomes.
Trust is the antidote, the remedy and the solution. Trust that whatever intelligence wrought this almost unbearably beautiful universe, it’s still there, behind the flow, trying to guide when we will just loosen our grip a little and see what surprises are in store.
Mark…
A BIG smile broke out on my face when I read your first sentence. Ain’t that the truth? Lao Tzu is …what can I say…(perhaps everything and nothing?).
Did you write the 2nd paragraph?? If so, you’ve got me hooked on your writing. I love the phrase ‘unbearably beautiful universe’.
Thanks for stopping by Mark. It’s good to see your ‘face’ here. Fran
